Woodland Park serves as the primary hub in this section of the Pike National Forest, situated where the Rampart Range rises above the plateau. The landscape is defined by the steep drainages of the Front Range, including College Gulch and Lofland Gulch, which feed into Fountain Cr. To the south, the North Catamount Reservoir sits tucked behind high ridges, surrounded by a dense network of forest trails such as the Mackinaw Trail and Limber Pine Trail. Settlement follows the lower elevations along the Ute Pass Regional Trail, connecting Crystola, Green Mountain Falls, and Chipita Park. This detailed topography captures the transition from the developed streets of the city to the high peaks of Raspberry Mtn and the unique rock formations at The Crags.
