Klamath National Forest dominates this landscape in the northern California mountains, where the drainage networks of the North Fork Salmon River and N Russian Cr meet. The terrain is defined by its deep canyons and high points, including Yellow Dog Peak and Bear Wallow Peak. A network of trails provides access to the high backcountry, notably the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trl which traverses the ridges past Shelly Meadows and Shelly Lake.
