Yesmowit Canyon and the surrounding drainage basins of Yakima County are defined by a rhythmic sequence of ridges and deep canyons. This area of Washington is characterized by significant topographic relief, where Ahtanum Ridge and Sedge Ridge overlook a complex network of seasonal and perennial watercourses. The drainage patterns are clearly visible through the paths of N Fork Simcoe Cr and S Fork Simcoe Cr, which have carved out features like Old Maid Canyon and Whitefoot Canyon.
