About this map

The hills of the Ex Mission San Fernando are captured here in the late 1920s, revealing a landscape of steep drainages and early suburban expansion. This northern edge of the San Fernando Valley is defined by a series of prominent north-south ravines, including Browns Canyon, Limekiln Canyon, Aliso Canyon, and Bull Canyon. The presence of the Los Angeles City Boundary and the early layout of Rinaldi Street illustrate the transition from open grazing lands to residential development.
