Sitgreaves National Forest covers much of this high-altitude landscape on the Mogollon Plateau in Navajo County. The area is defined by its sophisticated system of water catchments, often named for local ranching families or landmarks, such as DeSpain Tank, Morris Tank, and Charlie Ross Tank. The small settlement of Zeniff sits at the junction of Zeniff Rd and Beck Road, serving as a remote outpost in a region primarily used for grazing and forest management.
