The Red River defines the winding border between Oklahoma and Texas, cutting through a landscape of creek-fed bottomlands and agricultural plateaus. On the Oklahoma side, the settlements of Colbert, Achille, and Hendrix are linked by a grid of rural routes such as Scarecrow Rd and River Rd. The northern reach of Denison appears just across the Texas line, situated south of the river bluffs.
