Springdale Colony sits on the eastern plains of this Montana landscape, representing a contemporary communal settlement within the Big Belt Mountains region. The terrain transition is sharp, moving from the open areas around Alkali Lake and Jackson Lake in the north into the dense topographic contours of the Helena National Forest to the west. This 2017 survey documents a high-altitude water network defined by the diverging paths of Cooks Cr, Badger Cr, and Hussey Cr, which drain the southern slopes.
