Altonah serves as the central hub of this Duchesne County landscape, where the High Uintas foothills meet an intricate system of water management. The irrigation infrastructure is remarkably dense, defined by a complex network of man-made waterways including the Yellowstone Feeder Canal, United States Lake Fork Canal, and Bluebell Lateral. These canals divert water from the Yellowstone River and Lake Fork River to sustain the agricultural life of the region.
