Amazonia and the small settlement of Nodaway occupy the bluffs and bottoms where the Nodaway River meets the Missouri River. This riverine landscape is defined by the expansive Burr Oak Bottom and a network of creeks, including Lincoln Cr and Honey Cr, which drain the undulating uplands of Andrew and Holt Counties. The transit corridor of the Burlington Northern Railroad follows the base of the loess hills, paralleling the riverbanks and connecting these rural communities.
