The Rio Grande serves as the international boundary between the United States of America and Mexico in this high-resolution study of the border region. Centered on the massive Amistad Dam, the landscape is defined by the engineered shoreline of the Amistad National Recreation Area. To the north, the small residential peninsula of Salems Point extends into the reservoir, accessed by Salem Point Rd and Western Dr.

South of the dam, the terrain transitions into the river valley, where the Rio Grande winds past McKee Springs and is joined by the intermittent flow of McKees Cr. Local infrastructure is prominent on the Texas side, featuring a network of residential and access roads such as S Amistad Village Rd, S Winds Marina, and the Vega Verde loop.
