Marcus Baker Glacier dominates the southeastern reaches of this high-elevation terrain in the Chugach Mountains, reflecting the glacial processes that continue to shape the Matanuska-Susitna region. The landscape is defined by extreme vertical relief, with contour lines indicating steep ridgelines and deep glacial valleys. In the northern portion of the map, the headwaters of Gravel Cr cut through the rugged topography, flowing between high peaks. This 2013 survey highlights a wilderness area where human infrastructure is entirely absent, save for the theoretical administrative grid lines of the Public Land Survey System, including the boundaries of Township 18 North, Township 17 North. The map serves as a primary record of ice extent and drainage patterns for glaciologists and researchers tracking environmental changes in south-central Alaska.
