Anderson Ranch Dam controls the waters of the South Fork Boise River, forming the centerpiece of this mountainous Elmore County landscape. The area is defined by the significant elevation shifts between the Danskin Mountains and the sprawling waters of the Anderson Ranch Reservoir. Settlement is concentrated near the dam at Reclamation Village and further south at Dixie, located along the Sun Valley Hwy. This 2013 survey illustrates the modern recreation and water management infrastructure of the Boise National Forest, including the Elk Creek Boat Ramp and the Little Camas Reservoir Access Area. The map reveals a network of mountain passes and plateaus, such as Dixie Summit and Wilson Flat, which have long served as essential corridors through the high Idaho backcountry.
