The boundary between Kern and Ventura counties cuts through this high-altitude landscape within the Los Padres National Forest. Recorded just after World War II, the area is defined by the sharp transitions of Knife Edge and the broad San Emigdio Mesa. Human presence is sparse, centered on seasonal grazing lands known as potreros, including Apache Potrero and Cowhead Potrero.
