Applegate Butte and Little Applegate Butte dominate this section of the Winema National Forest, serving as prominent volcanic landmarks in the high country of Klamath County. The landscape is defined by its water sources, from the wetlands of Wilson Flats to scattered points like Slabhouse Springs and Beaverdam Springs. A network of Forest Service infrastructure, including Nat For Dev Rd 4519 and Nat For Dev Rd 4518, provides access through the timbered terrain, connecting the higher elevations with drainage features such as Hog Cr. To the south, Crawford Butte stands near the seasonal waters of Hawks Lake, illustrating the varied topography and natural hydrology that characterize this portion of the eastern Cascades.
