About this map

Flathead National Forest covers the majority of this Montana landscape, dominated by the peaks of the Salish Mountains and the prominent height of Ashley Mtn. The terrain is defined by the significant Ashley Divide, a watershed partition that separates various drainages. An extensive network of forestry routes and footpaths, such as Ashley Mtn Trl and the Lupine Lake Trl, provides access through the heavily wooded slopes and high ridges. Numerous watercourses originate in these highlands, including Meadow Creek, Griffin Creek, and Logan Creek, which carve deep valleys between the timbered summits. The presence of Star Meadow Trl in the north suggests the more open, meadow-like breaks in the forest cover found throughout this high-elevation backcountry.
