The landscape is defined by the drainage patterns of the Black Bayou and Cypress Creek watersheds, which create a complex network of tributaries such as Wilkins Creek and Butler Creek. To the northwest, the edge of Wright Patman Lake suggests the region's relationship with water management and recreation, further evidenced by the smaller Hogan Lake Dam and Hogan Lake in the southern portion of the quadrangle.
