About this map

The St Louis Southwestern railroad corridor defines the development of this Bowie County landscape, connecting the neighboring settlements of Maud and Redwater. The mid-1950s terrain is characterized by the expansive waters of Lake Texarkana, which dominates the southern half of the map and surrounds Mc Farland Island. This reservoir development significantly altered the drainage patterns of the Sulphur River and its tributaries, including Big Creek and Milan Creek.
