Baboon Peak and the high desert landscape of the Black Mountains dominate this portion of Iron County. The terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes, from the prominent summit of Mound Mtn in the north to the canyon-like topography of The Narrows. Water sources are critical identifiers for this arid region, marked by the presence of Baboon Seep, Lost Spring, and Marshall Pond. Historically significant transport routes are documented through the alignment of Old Highway 130 in the southeast. Large valley formations including Horse Valley and Little Horse Valley provide a sense of the scale of the western Utah basins. The map also records drainage patterns such as Jako Wash and the interestingly named N Steer Holw, which reflect the localized geographic naming conventions of the Great Basin.
