Outside the town center, the terrain is defined by a dense concentration of glacial water bodies and meandering streams. To the north and west, labels such as Long Lake, Goose Lake, and the descriptively named Sleepy Island Lake dot the wetlands. The hydrography is further detailed by the Pine River and its various tributaries like Stony Cr and Cedar Cr. A network of forest roads and trails, including the State Forestry Rd and Bill Moose Trl, provides access to these more remote pockets of the Northwoods.
