Hart Ranch Airport serves as a central landmark in this portion of the Okanogan National Forest in northern Washington. The landscape is defined by the headwaters of the West Fork Sanpoil River and several small alpine bodies of water, including Cathrene Cecile Lake, Round Lake, and Lyman Lake. A network of Forest Service and Bureau of Indian Affairs roads, such as BIA 1024 Rd and Tamarack Rd, connect the scattered clearings and ranches throughout the Aeneas Valley. Significant topographic features like Bailey Mountain and the deep cut of Devils Canyon illustrate the complex drainage patterns of Sourdough Creek and Aeneas Creek as they feed into the Sanpoil system. This map reveals a region of active land management and high-altitude ranching at the start of the 21st century.
