Barrel Springs and its namesake drainage, Barrel Springs Draw, anchor this high plains landscape in eastern Lincoln County. Recorded in the late 2010s, the terrain is defined by the intermittent flows of Rush Creek and its tributary Rush Cr, which wind through the township and range sections of this cattle-ranching country. The land is segmented by a strictly linear grid of county roads, including Co RD 39, Co RD R, and Co RD J, reflecting the enduring surveyor's grid that organized this portion of the Colorado plains.
