Bear Butte and a series of volcanic peaks define this high-altitude landscape where the Fremont National Forest and Winema National Forest meet in Klamath County. The terrain is characterized by cinder buttes and high meadows, including Long Prairie and Deely Meadow, which provided important seasonal resources for early settlers and range users. Water sources are vital but scattered in this volcanic soil, marked here by Deely Spring and several seasonal drainages like Rock Creek, Dillon Creek, and Doeskin Creek.
