About this map

The upper reaches of the Mississippi River flow through this glacial landscape, connecting a dense network of lakes and waterways just west of the regional hub. The Mississippi River winds through the center of the sheet, joined by the Schoolcraft River as it passes between Lake Marquette and Lake Irving. In the northwestern corner, the small settlement of Wilton is documented near Wilton Cem and Grass Lake.

Further south, the large expanse of Lake Plantagenet dominates the terrain, while the city of Bemidji expands along the western shore of Lake Bemidji. Local institutions and landmarks are clearly marked, including Oak Hills Christian College overlooking the river and the Moberg Air Base located north of the Grant Valley Road NW corridor. The map provides a detailed view of the transition from municipal outskirts to the lake-studded woodlands characteristic of northern Minnesota.
