The Bend cityscape is defined by the high desert topography of central Oregon, where the city center is bracketed by prominent volcanic landmarks like Pilot Butte and Awbrey Butte. The Deschutes River flows north through the heart of the district, widening at Mirror Pond and winding past the SW Industrial Way corridor. To the west, the landscape transitions into the Deschutes National Forest, while residential expansion is evident in newer developments like Tetherow and the outlying Deschutes River Woods.
