The prairie pothole region of Towner County is defined here by the winding course of Big Coulee, which meanders across the landscape toward the Brumba National Wildlife Refuge in the northeast. This 2024 survey captures the characteristic drainage patterns of North Dakota's glacial till plains, where intermittent water bodies and coulees carve through the section lines. The small settlement of Bisbee is situated in the southwestern corner, serving as a focal point for the surrounding agricultural grid. A network of rural roads, including Higgins Rd and Dam Rd, follows the rigid Public Land Survey System, while the natural topography of Mauvais Coulee provides a distinct contrast to the man-made boundaries of T160N and T161N.
