Billys Lake and a series of smaller alkali and freshwater basins define this portion of the Nebraska Sandhills along the border of Cherry and Sheridan counties. The landscape is characterized by a high density of named water bodies, including McAlister Lake, Kinney Lake, and Minnie Lake, which are situated within broad depressions like Brighton Valley and White Valley. This topography creates a complex network of wetlands and seasonal ponds typical of this prairie ecosystem. Human presence is marked by a sparse grid of secondary routes such as Ostrander Rd and primitive trails like 423rd Trl, which provide access to these isolated pastures. The southern portion of the map is dominated by the prominent elevation of Big Hill, overlooking Big Hill Valley, while Gordon Cr provides a rare drainage point in this otherwise internally draining terrain.
