Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument occupies the northern half of this landscape, dominated by the sharp elevation of the southern Organ Mountains. The terrain transitions from the jagged heights of Peña Blanca and Pyramid Peak down toward the southern desert flats. These lower reaches are characterized by intermittent water features like Mossman Arroyo and the small watering point at Massey Tank.
