Bison serves as the focal point of this Perkins County landscape, situated at the intersection of Main St and White Butte Rd. As the county seat, it contains the Perkins County Courthouse and essential local infrastructure including the Bison Municipal Airport and the Bison Cem north of town. The surrounding terrain is defined by the sweeping expanse of the Grand River National Grassland, which blankets the central and northern portions of the map. This protected prairie environment is drained by several seasonal waterways, including the South Fork Grand River to the north and the winding channels of Box Spring Cr and Timber Draw Cr. A grid of rural routes such as Owen Lake Rd, Bakke Rd, and 130th St provides access to the remote ranching and grazing lands that characterize this portion of the Great Plains.
