The River Raisin meanders through the northwest corner of this Michigan landscape, anchoring the village of Blissfield. Further southeast, the smaller community of Riga sits at the intersection of several local routes and drains. This 2014 survey illustrates a highly organized agricultural grid defined by an extensive system of man-made waterways, including the Wiley Drain, Pease Drain, and Camp Drain, which manage the low-lying terrain.
