The small settlement of Bluelight sits at the intersection of Co Line Rd and Bluelight Rd, marking the boundary where Yakima and Klickitat counties meet. This high-plateau landscape is defined by its numerous watering points, which were vital for ranching and travel in this arid portion of south-central Washington. Notable water sources include Mammoth Tusk Spring, Donohue Spring, and Randall Spring, scattered among the high ridges north of the county line.

Erosion has carved deep geographic features into the terrain, most notably Spring Canyon, Tule Canyon, and Juniper Canyon, which cut through the southern portion of the quadrangle. Transport in the region relies on a network of Bureau of Indian Affairs roads, such as BIA Rd 288, and the winding Mabton-Bickleton Rd, which navigates the complex elevation changes of Sand Ridge as it drops toward Willow Cr in the southeast.
