The high peaks of the Manzano Mountains and Manzanita Mountains define this section of the Cibola National Forest, where the borders of Valencia, Torrance, and Bernalillo Counties converge. This 2013 survey details a transition from the developing residential area of Meadow Lake in the west to the high-elevation wilderness of the east. The terrain is marked by numerous water sources essential to the local environment, including Piedra Lisa Spring, Yellowstone Spring, and the Albuquerque Trail Spring.
