Boyds sits at the eastern edge of the Colville National Forest along the shoreline of the Franklin D Roosevelt Lake. This 2014 survey documents the rugged intersection of the Kettle River Arm and the Columbia River drainage, where the terrain rises sharply from the water toward Bisbee Mtn and Hoodoo Mtn. The map records a landscape managed for recreation and forestry, featuring the Davis Lake Campground and the sprawling Lake Roosevelt Nat Rec Area. Transportation in this part of Ferry County is defined by the corridor of Us-395, which connects the small settlement of Boyds to Barney's Junction further south. Numerous forest service roads, such as Deadman Creek Rd and Nancy Creek Rd, provide access into the high ridges of Thompson Ridge and the Hoodoo Canyon.
