Tongass National Forest dominates this high-altitude landscape along the international border between Alaska and British Columbia. The terrain is characterized by the formidable peaks of the Coast Mountains, where Mt Pounder stands as a prominent landmark overlooking the glacial and fluvial systems below. The drainage network is defined by the Craig River and its S Fork Craig River, which carve through the steep topography in the northwestern portion of the quadrangle. This 2021 survey illustrates the intersection of a vast protected wilderness area and the fixed boundary line between the United States and Canada, providing a modern record of the unchanged alpine environment and its natural drainage patterns in the Wrangell City and Borough region.
