Big Sioux River and Split Rock Creek define this borderland landscape between South Dakota and Iowa during the early 1960s. The region is marked by an active quarrying industry, with numerous Quarries and Gravel Pits clustered around East Sioux Falls and the railroad corridors. Transport is dominated by the Chicago and North Western and Illinois Central lines, which connect the small prairie hubs of Brandon, Corson, and Rowena.
