The eastern boundary of the Menominee Indian Reservation meets the Oconto County line in this survey of the northern Wisconsin woodlands. The landscape is defined by the complex hydrology of the South Branch Oconto River, which winds through the South Branch Oconto River State Wildlife Area and feeds the Weso Creek Flowage. Settlement is concentrated around the small community of Breed, where the Union Cem is located. The area's transport and utility are evidenced by the Chicago and North Western rail line and the presence of the Piso Landing Strip. To the north, the Nicolet National Forest encompasses Anderson Lake and the U-Nah-Li-Ya Camp, while local family names are preserved in landmarks such as Bubolz Lane and Pecore Road.
