About this map

The coal and transportation corridors of the Kentucky mountains are deeply etched into this study of the Levisa Fork valley. In the early 1990s, the Chesapeake and Ohio railroad and heavy traffic along Us 23 Us 119 Us 460 linked a dense string of valley settlements including Coal Run, Blair Town, and Broad Bottom. The landscape reflects a mix of industrial and community life, where numerous Mines and a Strip Mine sit on the ridges above valley landmarks like the Pike County Airport and the Mullins Sch.
