Satilla River bottomlands define the southern portion of this landscape, where the water carves a complex network of reaches and bends including McIntosh Bend and Buzzard Roost Reach. The terrain is characterized by a series of hammock formations and islands, such as Zetser Hammock and Flowers Island, rising slightly above the surrounding wetlands and sloughs. These higher grounds provided the foundation for local settlements like Browntown and Fendig, which are connected by Ga-32.
