Mount Hood National Forest defines the topography of this high-elevation region where the Clackamas and Marion County line traverses a complex network of peaks and drainage basins. The landscape is anchored by the Bull of the Woods lookout area, surrounded by a series of alpine water bodies including the Welcome Lakes, Lily Pad Lake, and the tucked-away Pansy Lake near Pansy Basin. These high-country lakes feed a system of creeks such as Buckeye Creek and Welcome Creek, which eventually contribute to the Collawash Wild and Scenic River corridor.
