The boundary between Beltrami and Clearwater Counties cuts across this northern Minnesota landscape, where the terrain is dominated by a complex network of wetlands and small glacial basins. The southern portion of the quadrangle contains a significant cluster of water bodies including Cahill Lake, Miskogineu Lake, and Roosevelt Lake. These features, along with Curtis Lake and Richards Lake, characterize the poorly drained glacial till plains common to this region.
