Caledonia serves as the focal point of this Houston County landscape, where the street grid of the town center meets a network of rural ridges and creek valleys. The area is marked by a deep-rooted community history, visible through numerous burial sites such as the German Lutheran Cemetery, Union Valley Cemetery, and Old Caledonia Cemetery. Outside of the main settlement, the smaller community of Union Ridge sits along the high ground between the drainages of Thompson Creek and Indian Spring Creek.
