Campana anchors this high plains landscape in eastern New Mexico, situated near the confluence of several seasonal drainages. The area is defined by a series of deeply etched drainages, including Bueyeros Canyon and Muertos Canyon, which illustrate the erosive patterns of the high desert plateau. These canyons run primarily west to east, feeding into larger systems like Atarque Cr and Bueyeros Cr.
