Lake Alice and the northern reaches of Chain Lake dominate this prairie landscape in North Dakota’s Towner County. The terrain is defined by a complex network of wetlands and seasonal drainages, most notably the meandering course of Mauvais Coulee which flows through the western half of the map, and Big Coulee in the northwest. This 2017 survey illustrates the persistent section-line road grid that characterizes the region’s agricultural heritage, including Egeland Rd and numerous numbered routes like 74th St NE. Aside from the hydrography, a singular aviation landmark, the Anderson Private Airport, is situated in the southeastern corner, reflecting the remote nature of this rural expanse where private airstrips serve local land management and transportation needs.
