Sequoia National Forest encompasses this high-elevation landscape in the Sierra Nevada, straddling the border of Tulare and Kern counties. The terrain is defined by a succession of high-altitude openings and drainage systems, most notably Big Meadow, Taylor Meadow, and Cannell Meadow. These meadows historically served as critical landmarks and resources for transhumance and early forest management. At the southern end of the sheet, the settlement of Potato Patch and the rugged Burnt Canyon contrast with the prominent peaks of the northern range.
