The Yampa River corridor and the high desert terrain of the Williams Fork Mountains dominate this region of Moffat County. Modern development is visible at Craig South Highlands, situated south of the river and east of Co-13. Significant hydraulic infrastructure supports the area, including the Deep Cut Ditch, the Craig Raw Water Reservoir, and the Craig Holding and Evaporation Reservoir. The transition from the alluvial flats of the Big Bottom to the rugged uplands of Thompson Hill and W Mesa illustrates the complex drainage network of the Colorado high country, where numerous draws such as Pyeatt Gulch and Hayden Cutoff Draw carve through the landscape towards the river. Transportation and commerce are centered around the Craig-Moffat Airport in the northeast and the network of county roads serving remote agricultural and residential plots.
