Pine Creek Gorge dominates this landscape on the border of Tioga and Lycoming Counties, where the winding water has carved deep through the plateau. Small settlements like Blackwell and Cedar Run occupy narrow benches of land along the creek, while Leetonia sits to the northwest near the headwaters of Cedar Run. The rugged geography is largely preserved within the Tioga State Forest and Tiadaghton State Forest, interspersed with designated conservation areas like State Game Lands No 75.
