Volcanic peaks and high-desert terrain dominate this portion of the Eastern Navajo Agency, where the volcanic cinder cone of Cerro Brillante stands as a prominent landmark. The landscape is defined by a series of named cerros, including Cerro Piedrita, Cerro Lobo, and Cerro Chato, which rise above the level expanse of Chato Flat. A segment of the El Malpais National Monument enters the eastern edge of the quadrangle, preserving the distinct geological character of the region.
