Kern Canyon dominates this high-elevation wilderness within Sequoia National Park and the Inyo National Forest. The map documents a complex hydraulic landscape where the Kern River flows through a deep gorge, fed by numerous hanging-valley tributaries including Chagoopa Cr, Big Arroyo, and Rattlesnake Cr. The dramatic verticality of the terrain is represented through the steep descent from the Chagoopa Plateau down to the canyon floor, where Kern Hot Spring and several meadow complexes are found.
