Chepeta Lake and the high-altitude basins of the Uinta Mountains define this mid-1960s landscape, where the Wasatch National Forest and Ashley National Forest meet. The area is characterized by a dense concentration of glacial lakes, including Fish Lake, Tamarack Lake, and the remote Reader Lakes cluster. A significant historical marker, the Old Indian Treaty Boundary, cuts through the center of the sheet, traversing the steep slopes between Kabell Ridge and the headwaters of the Whiterocks River.
