Chequamegon Point serves as a narrow, protective sand spit separating the waters of Chequamegon Bay from the open expanse of Lake Superior. This 2018 survey illustrates a complex hydrologic system where the Kakagon River and the Bad River converge into a massive wetland complex. The landscape is dominated by intricate waterways, including Kakagon Slough and Bad River Slough, which form one of the largest and most pristine freshwater estuaries in the upper Great Lakes region.
