New Rockport Colony stands near the northern edge of this Teton County landscape, illustrating the unique communal settlement patterns found in this part of Montana. The topography is defined by the winding course of the Teton River, which carves through a series of drainage features including Gamble Coulee, Coyote Coulee, and Spring Coulee. To the south, the terrain rises toward Bole Bench and overlooks the Priest Butte Lakes near the southwestern corner. The map documents a rigid grid of rural infrastructure, such as 14th Rd NW and 11th Rd NW, which segment the plains and provide access to the various coulees and water bodies that dictate the local agricultural and pastoral life.
